I’m David Chapple, a former Senior Microsoft Consultant and freelance developer, and for the past eight years I’ve been building reliable and responsive applications with Bubble.io. There are now systems in production that handle thousands of concurrent users. Bubble is extendible via APIs, plugins and custom code, so it makes a great launching platform for custom integrations, such as AI.

Experience counts

Bubble.io is very enabling and it speeds up development. That said, pure technical knowledge and a good UX design aren't all that is required. Commercial awareness plays its part.I was building systems in rapid technologies before Bubble came along, so I know how important it is to get everything in the workspace right.

Process vs Product

Solutions for Business takes a product-based approach, as opposed to a process-based approach. This comes from my training as a project manager. My final products are: a delighted customer and a working system that is optimised for the benefit of your business, and when working together, these ends are always in mind. So, what's the difference between the approaches?Whether you are building a submarine, a shopping centre or a new app, all projects follow the natural steps of discovery, design, build, test and deployment. It's a given, so it's not really a marketing point. These are activities or generic processes. It's the quality of the deliverables, or 'products' from each of those stages, that defines success, not the activity. Knowing which products to create, and which analytical tools to use, is key.For instance, many in the no-code space refer to scoping during discovery, but very few talk about requirements. Think of scoping as an outline sketch, and requirements as the picture. Again, it's a given that the requirements must eventually be turned into features, so they need to be articulated sooner or later. Earlier is best. No-code makes it easy to be vague about features, leaving things to the designer and developer for when they do their work, but if you want to avoid misunderstandings and be flexible at the same time, it's best to be specific early. I have the tools to make that easy.
